I always wondered who Cathy Berberian was when Steely Dan sang:
‘Even Cathy Berberian knows
There’s one roulade she can’t sing’
But was never bothered enough to dig deeper.
Then I found this:
It’s a piece called Stripsody – a sort of combination of cartoon and song.
After watching it I’d love to hear the Roulade she couldn’t sing!
By the way this is the the Steely Dan song she’s mentioned in, Gold Teeth from Countdown to Ecstasy:
All these attacks on #Corbyn for not being bellicose enough reminded of this from the Life of Brian: ‘What Jesus blatantly fails to appreciate is that it’s the meek who are the problem.’
Between media distortion, the rest of the Labour Party and his own distaste for behaving like a ‘leader’, Jeremy Corbyn looks increasingly beleaguered. Bless him though for trying to raise issues beyond slogans like ‘shoot to kill’ or ‘bomb Syria’. If we really want to defeat terrorism we will have to try something truly challenging – think differently. Good article here pointing the way:
